Adult Starters Music is a community band in the Wind Ensemble tradition aimed toward adult beginner musicians. 

Beginning over 30 years ago under the direction of highly acclaimed concert band and multi-instrumental clinician Peter Francis, Adult Starters has seen many musicians flourish in their ranks going from absolute beginner to confident musician throughout their time in the ensemble. Within three years of its inception, Peter had created 26 bands throughout South East Queensland, Northern New South Wales and even one band in Sydney, some of which still exist as community music ensembles today. 

Today, Adult Starters Music is run by Peter with over 40 years of teaching experience, those who join Adult Starters are in hands of one of Queensland’s premier music educators.

Adult Starters is based on the Redlands Coast in Brisbane, QLD and rehearse once a week, working through Bruce Pearson’s Tradition of Excellence band method books. Peter welcomes musicians of all levels into Adult Starters Music - from complete novice to accomplished musician.
